For an overview of the assessment process, please visit the section How does teamorama work?
When we use the work “manager”, we refer to the person who is responsible for a team (e.g, a team leader, team coordinator, or team manager).
teamorama was developed to support teams in reflecting on and optimizing their teamwork. Our research has identified three areas in particular that are essential for effective teamwork and can be changed relatively easily through specific measures. These three levers are availability, communication and team spirit.
teamorama is suitable for any team that is working towards a common goal and has at least three members. This minimum number is necessary to ensure the anonymity of the individual team members.
teamorama is a license-free, scientifically based tool that was developed at the Vienna University of Technology with funding from the Lower Austrian Chamber of Labor (Arbeiterkammer Niederösterreich). The application is freely available for teaching purposes and individual teams. Company-wide use in organizations with the aim of creating internal benchmarks is associated with additional effort, which must be compensated. Commercial use of teamorama by third parties is only permitted with the consent of the scientific management.
Please register here: https://teamorama.project.tuwien.ac.at/teamorama-tool/start/. After completing the short assessment for managers, you will receive a link for your team members.
After you have completed the assessment for managers, you will receive a link for your team members via e-mail. Please forward this link to your team members. To guarantee your team members anonymity, every team member can use the same link. To generate meaningful results, it is necessary that all team members participate. To receive the results and recommendations for action at least 75% (or three team members) need to participate.
Your individual teamorama-link is valid for 20 days, but we recommend completing the assessment as soon as possible.
Because we do not have any contact information for your team members, we kindly ask you to remind them to participate. You, as the manager, will automatically receive a reminder after 4, 11 and 18 days – unless all team members have already participated.
Your individual teamorama-link expires after 20 days. If at least 50% (or three team members) participated, you will receive a link that leads you to your teamorama insights. If fewer team members participated, we cannot provide the results.
At the start of each assessment, each team member will be asked to consent to the anonymous use of their data for scientific and teaching purposes. If you agree to this, your data will be stored in a secure data storage facility at TU Wien in accordance with the current stipulations of the GDPR.
Yes, the assessment is anonymous. We always store the manager’s e-mail address separately from the data. We use this e-mail address to send you the assessment links, any reminders and links to the results. After you have received your teamorama insights, your e-mail address will be automatically deleted.
As it is possible for a manager to lead several teams, the name helps to distinguish the links of the teams. This name can be invented and only serves the purpose of team identification for the manager.
We need to know the size of your team for two reasons:
Firstly, it only makes sense for results to be reported back above a certain percentage. If less than 75% of team members complete the assessment, then the teamorama insights are less meaningful. We therefore wait until this percentage has been reached before reporting.
Secondly, we can enrich your teamorama insights with comparative data from teams of a similar size. We do this because we know from our studies that team size plays an important role in team communication and coordination.
The individual responses of the team members will never be visible to the manager. We have access to individual data for scientific purposes, but as it does not contain any personal data, it remains anonymous.
The manager (or the person who has registered) will only receive the summarized results of your team and only if at least three members have completed the assessment
In addition to the teamorama insights for the entire team, the manager also receives their own results report, which contains the individual data – in some cases also in comparison with other managers and the team data. This report cannot be anonymous, as it is based on a single person and is therefore only intended for the manager themselves. We can also view the managers’ responses for scientific purposes. However, they are only exported from the database after the manager’s e-mail address has been deleted so that they remain anonymous.
Your team must consist of at least 3 members and a manager. We have set this threshold because team dynamics only become apparent with three or more people and to protect the anonymity of the individual team members.
No. But the aim of teamorama is to help teams communicate and collaborate more effectively. It is designed for teams that work towards a common goal and interact with each other regularly.
It is very common for people to be members of several teams. For the teamorama insights to be meaningful, it is important that each team member answers the questions with the same team in mind. It is perfectly acceptable for a person to take part in the assessment with several teams and to have the relevant team in mind when answering the questions.
Managers can use teamorama with as many teams as they like. For every team, a new, unique link needs to be generated and distributed to the team members. Accordingly, the manager needs to complete the short assessment for every team.
We recommend that only one manager (the person who is most closely involved with the team) starts teamorama and completes the assessment for managers.
No. If you want to change the team size, you need to start the assessment and complete the assessment for managers again. After, you will receive a new link for your team members.
Completing the assessment takes about 15 minutes for every team member. There are about 70 questions included in the assessment.
Yes.
If a team member completes the assessment twice, it does not only distort the results but also occupies another team members’ place. I this case, you need to generate a new link and ask all your team members to complete the assessment (again).
After registering, you and your team have 20 days to complete the assessment. As soon as you and all your team members have completed the assessment, you will receive a link that will lead you to your teamorama insights. After the 20 days have passed, you will only receive the results if you and at least 75% (or 3 team members) completed the assessment.
Yes. One main advantage of the teamorama insights is the option to compare your results with other teams. We provide a comparison with similar teams (e.g., with a similar team size and from a similar industry). If we notice that your team’s responses vary more (particularly heterogenous teams) or less than average (particularly homogenous teams), we also note this in the teamorama insights.
We use means (averages) and percentiles to calculate your results. The teamorama insights also include explanations regarding the interpretation of results.
The teamorama insights include tailored recommendations for your teams. These inspirations were compiled based on scientific studies. To us, it is very important to only recommend measures that have been shown to be effective in practice.
